Windows 10 Message Centre will still appear in the notification area.

Disable the notification center in the local group policy editor

Note that only older versions of the operating system in Windows 10 have access to the local group policy editor: Professional (Pro) and Corporate (Enterprise). Therefore, users of younger versions of the operating system will have to use command line or OS settings to turn off the signals.

To turn off Windows 10 Message Center in the Local Group Policy Editor, do the following:

  1. Press the arrow keys “Win” + “R”.
  2. In the “Run” window, enter the phrase: “gpedit.msc” (without quotes) in the “Open” field, then click “OK”.
  3. In “Local Computer Policy”, enter the section “User Configuration”, then “Administrative Templates”.
  4. Double-click the left mouse button to “Start menu” and “Message area”.
  5. Find the “Delete Messages and Messages Icon” item by double-clicking on it with the left mouse button.
  6. In the “Delete messages and message centre icon” window, activate the “On” value and then click “OK”.
  7. Restart the computer.

The Windows 10 Message Centre icon will disappear from the notification area.

If you need to re-enable the message centre icon screen in the notification area, do the same in the Local Group Policy Editor window. Select the value “Not specified”, click “OK”, restart the computer.
